Terms of Use
Effective October 4, 2026 · Last updated October 4, 2026
1. Scope and acceptance
These Terms govern access to Gen Academy’s websites, applications, Live Labs, educator tools, recordings, communications, and related services. “Gen Academy,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of the service; “you” refers to any visitor, learner, educator, or other user.
By creating an account, registering for a Live Lab, or otherwise using the service, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. If you use Gen Academy for an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to act for that organization.
Gen Academy currently provides free educational Live Labs. If paid offerings are introduced, their price, taxes, refund rules, and additional purchase terms will be presented before payment and will not apply retroactively.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are below the age of legal majority where you live, you may use Gen Academy only with permission and supervision from a parent or legal guardian. The service is not directed to children under 13.
You agree to provide accurate information, keep it reasonably current, protect your credentials, and notify us if you suspect unauthorized account use. Accounts, individual Zoom registration links, and protected recording access are personal and may not be shared or transferred.
Google sign-in and email/password authentication are supported through third-party identity services. Their terms and privacy practices also apply to your use of those services.
3. Live Labs, registration, and recordings
Registration gives an eligible learner access to the selected Live Lab, its protected joining flow, and any recording later made available for that registration. Registration is personal, may be subject to time-based eligibility, and does not create ownership in the materials.
Live Labs may be recorded for registered learners. Our intended recording composition captures educators and shared screens—not learner video, audio, or chat. Participants should keep cameras and microphones off unless invited to contribute and should avoid sharing information they do not want included. Suspected accidental inclusion may be reported for review.
Schedules, speakers, content, availability, and recording release may change. We may reschedule or cancel a Live Lab, delay or decline publication of a recording, or remove content when operational, safety, rights, or legal concerns require it.
4. Content, intellectual property, and access
Gen Academy materials
The service, branding, interface, software, and materials supplied by Gen Academy are protected by intellectual-property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for personal learning or authorized educator activity.
Educator and guest materials
Educators and other contributors retain rights in content they provide. They grant Gen Academy the worldwide, non-exclusive rights reasonably required to host, format, display, distribute, stream, secure, and operate that content through the service. Contributors confirm they have the rights and permissions needed for submitted text, images, profiles, links, and teaching materials.
Learner access
Learners may view materials only for personal, non-commercial learning. Downloading, copying, redistributing, publicly displaying, reselling, or sharing protected materials or access credentials is prohibited unless the applicable owner expressly permits it.
5. Acceptable use
You must not use Gen Academy to:
- break any applicable law or encourage unlawful activity;
- harass, threaten, impersonate, deceive, or harm another person;
- infringe intellectual-property, privacy, publicity, or other rights;
- bypass security or access controls, probe vulnerabilities, or interfere with the service or another user;
- scrape, harvest, or collect personal information without authorization;
- introduce malicious code, automate abusive requests, or misuse provider integrations; or
- make unauthorized recordings or copy, resell, livestream, or redistribute protected Live Labs and materials.
6. Third-party services and links
Google/Firebase, Zoom, Mux, ZeptoMail, hosting providers, and other service providers help deliver Gen Academy. Their separate terms and privacy practices may apply when you use their services. We are not responsible for third-party websites, services, availability, or content that we do not control.
A reference or link to a third party does not imply endorsement. You are responsible for reviewing third-party terms before providing information or using an external service.
7. Essential communications
We may send communications required to operate your account and registrations, including account messages, confirmations, reminders, schedule changes, cancellations, access instructions, and recording-availability notices. These are service communications rather than promotional subscriptions. Gen Academy does not currently operate a promotional-email program.
8. Feedback
If you voluntarily send suggestions or feedback, you permit Gen Academy to use that feedback without restriction or compensation. This does not transfer ownership of your teaching materials, profile content, or other protected submissions.
9. Suspension and termination
You may stop using Gen Academy at any time and may request account assistance through support. We may restrict or terminate access when reasonably necessary to address a Terms violation, unlawful activity, security risk, harm to another person, infringement, provider restriction, or service discontinuation.
Termination ends your permission to use protected services and materials. Provisions that by their nature should survive—including ownership, disclaimers, limitations, and responsibility for prior conduct—continue to apply.
10. Service availability and changes
We may update, suspend, replace, or discontinue features and may revise these Terms. Material changes will be posted with an updated effective date and, where appropriate, additional notice. Continued use after revised Terms become effective constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.
11. Educational-content disclaimer
Live Labs and materials provide general educational information. They are not legal, medical, financial, employment, or other regulated professional advice, and they do not guarantee a particular learning, career, business, or financial outcome. You remain responsible for evaluating information and decisions based on it.
12. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Gen Academy is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or permanently available service, recordings, third-party integrations, or content.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Gen Academy and its contributors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss arising from use of—or inability to use—the service. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liability that applicable law does not permit us to exclude.
13. General terms
These Terms and the Privacy Policy form the current agreement about use of the service. If one provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue. A delay in enforcing a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without permission; Gen Academy may transfer its rights as part of a business reorganization or transaction, subject to applicable law.
14. Contact
